Becoming OP in Legendary Marvel – Red Skull Tier 1

In accordance to my strategy on how to become OP at Legendary Marvel and how to, pretty much, see every permutation the game has to offer (in its core set) I have gone through all the schemes with Red Skull. Specifically Red Skull, with Hydra (as it leads with them), Spider-Foes as the second villain ground and the Savage Land Mutants as the henchmen, as this is the easiest set up I can think of. I’ll go Scheme by Scheme seeing as it’s the only thing that change from game to game, with the exception of my heroes for the round, but I’ll talk about those in other posts.

Unleash the Power of the Cosmic Cube

…is barely worth mentioning, to be honest, because it’s so simple. The setup is so easy that I never even drew enough Twists for there to be Wounds.

Negative Zone Prison Breakout

Same thing as before. Far too easy. Sure, the villains got a Bystander here and there, but they were quickly dispatched of and the Bystanders recued.

Replace Earth’s Leaders With Killbots

…is a fun one. Easy with the setup, but definitely fun. It becomes interesting to see Bystanders as enemies.

The Legacy Virus

…was a complete non-issue. Even running only Iron-Man as the one hero with a Tech card, I think I only ended up with one or two Wounds from the Wound stack before the game was over. Most other Twists that were drawn, I had the Tech card in hand.

Midtown Bank Robbery

… was, again, too easy. Enemies don’t present much of a challenge after a couple of turns of deckbuilding.

Portals to the Dark Dimension

…was one that I thought I was going to lose, mainly due to back luck. I kept drawing Twists constantly. The game ended with 5 Twists on the board. Alas, the heroes triumphed again.

Secret Invasion of the Skrull Shapeshifters

…is where everything changed in terms of the power dynamic of the game. I added the heroes to the villain deck as randomly as possible, and boy was it bad. Not all of them came to the board before the game was done, but three of them were value 7 and above, which meant they had 9 or more attack each. Taking those down, or at least keeping them in the city until I could was more of a challenge than the game had shown me so far. Still won.

Super Hero Civil War

…was left for last thinking it was going to be the hardest one, on account of the HQ getting wiped. But it turned out to be a really relaxed, easy win. I think I’m gonna change this one around in my difficulty tiers.

In conclusion, the setup is definitely the easiest possible, specially when playing solo  because you build your deck much faster than you would in multiplayer in comparison to how villains come out. I’ll be going up to my next setup now, which is pretty much the same so I don’t think the experience is going to change all that much. But I’m still going to go through it to be 100% sure.
