First game(s) of Marvel Champions, done

I finally got to complete a game of Marvel Champions, at least with the instructions for beginners, and I like the game.

For someone that’s used to Legendary the game’s odd, but still good. So much more fast paced than Legendary is and it feels far more dangerous. Even when things are going downhill in Legendary you still feel like you may regain control of it because of how slow everything is going. It’s like watching a cat slowly push a glass figurine off a table. You could get to it in time if you just hurry up a bit. Not Champions. Things went downhill fast during my first game. There I was with Captain Marvel thinking I had it covered. Next thing I knew, I had half my health, no allies, engaged with one minions, Rhyno was at full health with the scheme at danger points level and two side schemes active. Needless to say, I lost that one.

Second game I decided to take things a bit slower. Built up Captain Marvel a bit before taking down Rhyno’s first stage. Things ramped up fast after that, but I still managed to keep everything under control, for the most part. Even managed to land some real heavy hits in order to beat him. His second form went down in two turns. But I know I was getting plenty lucky because the villain was losing plenty of good cards as his boosts. Leaving somewhat weaker cards as the ones who’s effects actually resolved. Lucky me.

Definitely looking forward to playing some more with the starter decks and the beginner scenario so I can learn how to teach the game to others and move on to advanced modes later. In-game deck building on Legendary is fun and dynamic. But I’m excited about pre-building my deck for Champions.

Back when I played Yu-Gi-Oh I had more fun thinking up decks and figuring out how to make weird things work than actually playing the game itself. And since this can be played solo, I can move from the lab to the table with so much more ease than before. And since this game is cooperative, I don’t care if someone sees my deck and copies it. They’ll be more than welcomed to it! Let’s make this one big, happy family!

I’ll be posting my decks on here if I think they’re worth sharing so that others can beat villains with them. And who knows, someone will probably be able to improve on them further. I’m a weird deck builder, but I’m not the most efficient one, hehe.
